The Ginkgo biloba is a genuine living fossil, a tree species that has remained virtually unchanged for over 200 million years.

While dinosaurs roamed the Earth, Ginkgo trees already existed.

Growing this tree connects you to Earth's deep geological history and represents one of nature's most enduring botanical survivors.

Distinctive Fan-Shaped Foliage:

The hallmark characteristic of the Ginkgo is its utterly unique fan-shaped foliage unlike any other tree species.

The delicate, two-lobed leaves create an distinctive silhouette and fine texture.

This botanical uniqueness makes the Ginkgo instantly recognizable and prized by plant enthusiasts worldwide.

Spectacular Autumn Colour Spectacle:

Green foliage appears in spring and changes to a spectacular gold/yellow colour in autumn, the Ginkgo delivers one of nature's most dramatic seasonal transformations.

The entire canopy turns brilliant golden yellow in autumn, creating an unforgettable display before dropping its foliage for winter.

This autumn performance is one of the Ginkgo's most treasured characteristics.

Important Male vs Female Distinction:

The male trees will produce flowers but no fruit, whilst the female trees tend to produce smelly fruit/seed/ginkgo nut that can have quite unpleasant smell.  This is a critical consideration to take into account.

There are less known Male trees available but please let us know if this is your preference when purchasing.

Exceptional Hardiness:

The Ginkgo is remarkably hardy and adaptable, thriving across diverse Australian climates from warm to cool regions.

Frost-tolerant and moderate drought tolerant once established, the Ginkgo handles challenging conditions with ease.

This hardiness reflects its evolutionary success over millions of years.
